Yes, BUT…

Where did he get the gun?!? Find out and prosecute the seller, please!

Texas man arrested for alleged terror plot after planning mass shooting at Walmart

One other note: While I think this guy probably needs to be off of the street, I am seriously concerned that the police were able to obtain a search warrant for:

“…radical ideology paraphernalia, including books, flags, and handwritten documents…”

I’d like to remind you that the documents regarding the founding of this country were once considered  “…radical ideology paraphernalia…”. Not that this guy is likely to found anything; I’m just trying to make a point about government overreach. Why wasn’t a search warrant for the firearms enough? (He is an ex-felon prohibited from owning firearms.)

I’m just not too keen our government’s march towards “thought police” status…

An unaccepted offer is worthless

I’ll bet he knew this when he “offered” his resignation:

Texas Dems refuse resignation of official who called Scott an ‘oreo’: report

I kind of figured this would be the case when I noticed that the staffer had not actually resigned, as noted in a separate news article:

“As a result, I feel compelled to offer my resignation as chair of the Lamar County Democratic Party for consideration by the County Executive Committee.”  [emphasis mine]

Punish law-abiding citizens…

…with onerous laws meant to restrict their 2nd amendment rights, but do nothing to the criminals who use firearms in the commission of their crimes? Oh, wait… it’s California. Duh:

California Democratic lawmakers look to remove penalty for possessing firearm during crime

However, if a law-abiding citizen possesses a firearm but commits no crime – well, that’s going to send them away for life.

You can THINK that…

…but no one else can hear. After all, we can’t have any opinions publicly expressed other than those sanctioned by the state; it might stir dissent.

Conservative group says California school ‘digitally assassinated’ photo in move ‘straight out of Orwell’

Not allowing these students to express views unless they are school sanctioned is an act of oppression. And it should not happen in America.

What’s wrong with this picture?

OK – so this teacher is too afraid of COVID to return to her class, but not too afraid to travel to Mexico for a 12 day vacation/marriage ceremony?

California teacher cancels class time and assigns homework instead to attend son’s wedding in Mexico

Here’s an excerpt from the article above:

“I will be traveling to Mexico for my son’s long deferred wedding on May 19th, (after school)-for approximately 12,(+/-,) days,” she wrote in an email addressed to kindergarten families. “While I will be teaching from Mexico, some days will contain asynchronous lessons due to travel and limited family activities. Thursday, May 20th will be a completely asynchronous day, as will our return date, (yet to be established due to my mother’s health).”

Really? When I go on a 12 day vacation, I actually have to take vacation time….

A page from the Biden playbook…?

Worried about winning an election (or recall)? What to do, what to do…?

Why not buy votes with the taxpayer’s own money? After all, it worked for Biden:

Facing A Recall And A Massive Surplus, Gov. Newsom Proposes More Stimulus Checks

I’m not an expert on the “Gann Limit“, but I just don’t see how returning a budget surplus to California taxpayers means sending out stimulus checks to those who pay little to no taxes….

If approved, the state would give $600 checks to workers who earn up to $75,000 annually, with $500 bonuses for tax filers with dependents and undocumented families.

Shouldn’t the money go back to the taxpayers in the same proportion that they paid, rather than being used by the sitting governor to buy votes to defeat their upcoming recall? And why are “undocumented” families, who pay no taxes or work using fraudulent tax documents, be given any of this taxpayer refund at all?

How is this even legal?!?

Anti-racism

There’s racist, and there’s not racist. But some are advocating for a new label: “anti-racist”. Now it’s not enough to not be racist; you must be anti-racist or you are racist, anyway.

Confused? Me, too. But that hasn’t stopped some from leveraging this new label for the benefit of the few. In the case noted below, a teachers union is using a claim of “…failure to be anti-racist…” against a school that fired a teacher who ridiculed a student for their constitutionally-protected views:

California Cypress College union claims firing of anti-cop professor had ‘chilling effect’ on workplace safety

The paragraph below is the most interesting one of the article:

“United Faculty stands in solidarity with all our faculty in protecting their academic freedom and the right to a safe work environment, free of hostility and threats to their physical safety and emotional well-being,” the United Faculty union’s president, Christie Diep, and lead negotiator, Mohammad Abdel Haq, said in a statement Monday.

But what about the rights of the student to a safe learning environment, free of hostility and threats to their emotional well-being? The teacher’s views are protected for the benefit of the teacher, but the student’s views are not? Isn’t it for the benefit of students that schools exist at all? Or are we to believe that they exist to provide jobs and security for the benefit of this teacher and her union brethren?

The school was right to dismiss this teacher for her treatment of a student. And race – contrary to what the union would have you believe – had nothing to do with it.

Expanding freedom, or curtailing it?

Forcing workers to join and pay dues to a union as a condition of employment will curtail their freedom – unlike right-to-work laws. Why then would politicians support such legislation? Money and votes, why else…

Manchin to cosponsor PRO Act, union-backed bill that would crush right-to-work laws

The whole idea of forced, single-party representation is repugnant. Why can’t unions compete for my business, like any other service provider, and allow me to select my own vendor (or none at all) for my labor representation needs?
