Rule # 1: People are Stupid

And politicians doubly so:

Common Dreams: ‘Two $1 Trillion Coins’: Rashida Tlaib Proposal Calls on US Treasury to Fund Coronavirus Recovery From US Mint

Wait, wait… I’ve got an idea! Let’s print a whole bunch of these coins and let everyone in the U.S. retire! We can just keep buying our stuff from China for cheap and live like kings! it’s not like we produce anything anymore, anyway…

“Not my money…”

The reason why election officials are so willing to ignore the law when it benefits them or their chosen party is because their is no penalty when they do. When someone sues over a failure to enforce the rules (spending money as a result), the offending election official(s) are forced to comply with state law but not one of them is presented with a legal bill for their hubris. Maybe we need to hold our elected or appointed officials liable for the cost of these lawsuits?

Virginia county is violating election law amid governor race, lawsuit claims

Our election officials are supposed to uphold the law, not ignore at their whim.

One more double standard?

So Stacey Abrams is allowed her own opinion, but Donald Trump is not?

McAuliffe nods along as Stacey Abrams tells ‘Big Lie’ that Georgia race was stolen from her

I’m no Trump fan, but he has the right to make the same claims as Stacey Abrams re: their elections were “stolen”. It doesn’t make their claims either true or false; it’s just a personal opinion which they are entitled to espouse. In any event, they’re both attention-seeking blowhards, but I think Stacy Abrams takes the cake. She is so into her “stolen” election claim that her website actually displays what appears to be a title of “Governor”:

I guess Disney World has expanded… Fantasyland is now located in Georgia.

Illegal immigrant = victim

Now it’s the evil, exploitative employer taking advantage of the innocent illegal alien – who shouldn’t be here at all, let alone be employed:

Biden Administration Orders ICE To End Mass Workplace Raids

Why would the government do this to support illegal aliens? They can’t (or at least shouldn’t) vote. What does the current administration hope to gain? Well, I’ll tell you…

What if you were a U.S. citizen with a relative illegally residing in the United States? Would you want to be responsible for their care? Would you want to feed, cloth, and house them on your own dime? Or would you support an administration that either allowed them to support themselves or provided monetary support directly?

The administration is not looking for these illegal aliens to become citizens and vote Democrat some 10 years down the road (at least not in the short term). It is instead are trying to cement the support of existing voters who might otherwise be required – as “sponsors” of these extended family members and illegal immigrants – to provide support for their care and housing.

Once again, buying votes with our money…

Sen. Warren is dangerous

Sen. Warren now wants to break up Facebook and other social media giants to “…protect our democracy.” From whom, Ms. Warren? From ourselves? Or from you?

Sen. Warren sounds alarm on ‘The View’: Break up Facebook before 2022 elections and ‘true steal comes along’

An interesting quote from the news article linked above:

“We also have to do breaking up Facebook now, now, now, before we are facing down the 2022 and then the 2024 elections, and that the true steal comes along, and that is the minority party that has ideas that are not supported by the majority of Americans gets to hang onto power. That is wrong and it will break our democracy,” she said on ABC’s “The View.”

I’ve got news for you, Ms. Warren – if the “…minority party has ideas that are not supported by the majority of Americans…” then they won’t win the election. That’s how elections (and democracies) work. It is your actions to control the means and media of speech that are the true threat to our democracy.

Don’t get me wrong; Facebook is dangerous, too – potentially more so then Sen. Warren. But the solution is not to turn Facebook into a government-regulated Ministry of Propaganda. Instead, we should work to remove the regulatory protections offered under Section 230 of the Telecommunications Act of 1934 (revised 1996) that allow social media companies to arbitrarily censor speech. It is this ability to control what can be heard that is so dangerous to our democracy.
