Millennials want the “government” to forgive their student debt. This sentiment shows just how poorly we’ve educated the millennial generation (or, alternatively, how well we’ve indoctrinated them into socialist policies). They don’t realize that this debt is owed to the themselves, as future taxpayers. Forgiving student loan debt means they’ll have to tax themselves to make up the loss.
One industry advocate quoted in the article stated that student loan forgiveness “…would go a long way towards helping millennials feel stable enough to take the next steps in their financial lives…” Apparently, they can’t manage basic financial obligations without a meltdown. I wonder how they’ll deal with taxes…
You can’t make this stuff up.
The city counsel of Seattle is apparently unwilling to face reality.
Given that the researchers they selected at the University of Washington came to the “wrong” conclusion regarding Seattle’s minimum wage hike, they’ve decided to hire someone else. Enter the more liberal and labor-friendly University of California at Berkeley.
Someone should probably tell Seattle: when you forum-shop research, it becomes nothing more than propaganda.
… that is both popular and fitting. From U.S. District Judge Roger Benitez, issued as part of his decision to block the implementation of California’s hi-cap magazine ban:
“[The] constitution is a shield from the tyranny of the majority.”
Well said. Thanks, Roger.
… you’re heading down the same path.
Illinois careens into financial meltdown – and not even the lottery is safe
Finally – something that makes sense.
According to a Washington Times article, Lisa Durden – an adjunct professor at Essex County College – has been fired after a heated discussion on the show “Tucker Carlson Tonight”.
In this discussion Ms. Durden defended a black-only “Black Lives Matter” event. When confronted by Tucker Carlson over the seemingly divisive nature of the event, Ms. Durden is alleged to have responded:
“Boo hoo hoo, you white people are angry because you couldn’t use your white privilege card to get invited to the Black Lives Matter’s all-black Memorial Day Celebration,” Ms. Durden told Mr. Carlson, who called her views “separatist” and divisive.
School President Anthony Munroe responded to Durden’s statement by saying:
“The character of this institution mandates that we embrace diversity, inclusion, and unity. Racism cannot be fought with more racism.”
Ms. Durden claims that her 1st amendment rights have been violated, but I disagree. She is free to say whatever she likes – clearly, no one stopped her – but having a right to speak does not free one from the consequences of such speech. Say something wildly offensive and you’ll likely pay the price.
Kudos to President Munroe for valuing inclusivity over divisiveness, and for placing the best interests of students over that of adjunct faculty.
… only serve to leave innocent, law-abiding citizens disarmed and defenseless against ruthless or crazed criminals. After all, by definition criminals ignore the law; why should gun laws be any different?
A San Francisco UPS driver shot 5 co-workers at a driver’s meeting on June 14th of this year. He did not care that murder is a crime; he did not care that at least one of the guns he used was banned under California law; he did not care that his guns were stolen. He only cared that he was armed and his victims were not.
Strict gun laws will never disarm criminals. In this case, California’s strict laws only provided the shooter with a pack of sitting ducks who were unable to defend themselves against a disturbed attacker armed with stolen weapons.
There are a lot more good people out there than bad. If we allow properly trained and vetted law-abiding citizens to carry firearms for their defense and the defense of others, attackers such as this will not stand a chance (but at least our citizens would).
… and why I’ll never trust Google:
False hate crime reporting is illegal. These two women from the University of Albany learned that lesson the hard way. Had there not been cameras installed on the bus, and also in the hands of other bus riders, their false accusations might well have resulted in long prison terms for their victims.
However, I don’t think the lesson was effective given the response of their lawyer Mark Mishler, who claimed:
“I think there’s no question that Ms. Agudio and Ms. Burwell were prosecuted, brought to trial and convicted, and now sentenced because they dared to say that they experienced a racial incident.”
Sorry, Mr. Mishler, but that is simply not true. They were not convicted because they said that they had “experienced a racial incident”; they were convicted for falsely reporting one.
Given the possible ramifications to their victims, I had hoped that Ms. Agudio and Ms. Burwell would have been given the sentences that their falsely-accused victims would have suffered had their false claims not been exposed. Instead, they received probation and community service (and, of course, they are appealing their convictions).
Lesson learned? Probably not.
Here is video of someone allegedly listed as a Vice-Chair on the web site of the Democratic Party of Orange County as he berates someone who is attempting to collect recall signatures for a local democratic politician that supported a large tax increase on gasoline. He is shown apparently willfully interfering with a legitimate democratic process, all the while insulting the leader of the group and questioning their affiliation with the gay community.
It’s ruthless. Looks pretty Fascist to me….
